What a TRYING WEEK!!!

I live in the Midwest that just got hammered with the WORST ICE STORM...EVER!

I lost power 2 days ago and I just got it back today. I have been in a hotel room, cooped up with nothing to do. I am happy to finally get back online today. I lost all my food in the Fridge and the Freezer and my house temp was at 40 degrees. When I came back to check on my animals I had to keep my gloves and hat on because it was freezing and my fingers started to go numb. I was going to pack up my Cats to get them out of this cold house but the hotel wouldn't let me have them in the room. There was not a room to be had where I live, all the hotels were booked. On top of that, there were utility trucks from surrounding states all over the place. The utility company had to call in people from 5 different states to help restore power. I have never seen so many utility trucks in all the hotel parking lots as I have seen the past 2 days. God Bless Them, they are working so hard to get the power restored to everyone. This has been one serious mess.

I plan on going out tomorrow and taking pictures of all the trees with ICE on them. They all look like Weeping Willows because they are drooping with the weight of the ice. We have downed branches all over the neighborhood. We even had a road closed due to a tree falling in the street and no body could get by it. It isn't safe to walk anywhere because there is ICE everywhere. I think my back is out in every place because I am trying hard not to fall on my behind!

To those of you that I contact daily...I am sorry that I have been out of touch. I will get back to normal by the weekend. I still have a lot to do for clean-up inside and outside of the house. I have to clean out my fridge and freezer and I hate throwing away food that should have been eaten. Then I have to go spend a butt-load of money to replace all food that has to be thrown away. This really SUCKS!!! I guess people are not getting the great presents they usally get. The Hotel room was expensive...food was expensive...taking care of others was expensive too.

NOW...I am thankful to be back in my own home with my kitty curled up next to me and the heat working again. I am happy that I can leave behind this horrible week and start fresh.
